Kinship Activities

Why does Kinship host activities

Kinship hosts group mentoring activity throughout the year.  These activities are planned to provide an opportunity for all Kinkids (matched or unmatched) and volunteers to get together and to enjoy conversation, constructive interaction and fellowship.  Kinship sponsored activities are an excellent way for our matches to share experiences together, along with other Kinship matches.  Unmatched Kinkids and volunteers benefit from the activities as they are "matched up" just for that activity; benefiting from their temporary friendship.

Activities have a wide variety of topics, and are either educational, recreational or community-service oriented (or a combination).   A few examples include canoeing, fishing, baking Christmas goodies, going to a baseball game and a Veterans Program.  Below are pictures highlighting Kinship's recent group mentoring activities.

Who can attend?

Kinship group activities are open only to Kinship youth and screened adult volunteers unless otherwise stated, providing a positive mentoring experience for all.

Adults interested in becoming a group mentor at Kinship activities must complete the same screening process as our 1:1 & family mentors.

Upcoming Kinship Activities

Camp Ripley Controlled Burn Demonstration

Monday, April 6

3:30 - 7:30 pm

Ride share / Bus from Historic Courthouse

On Monday, April 6th (no school for LF), we will travel out to Camp  Ripley to experience their annual controlled burns.  They will be buring  over the next month, so we will see & learn about the burns from  that day, see the fire-fighting equipment, "help" with a small  controlled burn and finish the evening with an authentic military style  dinner.  This is an exciting opportunity to see what goes on behind the  scenes at Camp Ripley.  Total time is 3:30 - 7:30 PM.  Depending how  many people sign up, we will either rideshare or take a bus.

RSVP ASAP through the link below (by March 31st)

Girls Night

Thursday, April 16th

5:00 - 7:00 PM

Maddie's House

Kinship volunteers Maddie & Claire are hosting a Girl's Night for Kinship girls & ladies on April 16th.  Look forward to a fun night of hands-on crafts & activities and fun snacks.  You are welcome to sign up as a match or solo.  Please sign up ASAP (by March 31st)!

Roadside Cleanup

Roadside Cleanup

Date To Be Determined

5:00 - 7:00 pm

Meet at the Falls Ballroom

Kinship will be cleaning up a roadside again this spring.  Specifically we will clean up Hawthorn Road beginning at the Falls Ballroom and go about 2 1/2 miles (past the fairgrounds).  The date will be announced as ditch conditions dry up - although it will be a weeknight.

Regardless of the date, we will start at 5 pm, pick trash, and then go to Pizza Ranch as a group.  We will conclude at 7:30 pm.

RSVP ASAP through the link below.
